Richard Anderson, Ph.D., professor emeritus of English, Huntingdon College
Richard Anderson is Professor Emeritus in English from Huntingdon College, where he taught for 30 years. He has lived in Alabama since 1971, and cherishes her history and literature. However, Anderson's interest in Alabama's rich literary and cultural legacy began before he came to live here, through his larger interests in the literature and history of the American South, and his research into the literature and life of F. Scott Fitzgerald. He is particularly excited to be able to bring to potential listeners the connections between early Alabama humorous fiction and the novels of Mark Twain; between Fitzgerald's fiction and his Montgomery connections; and between Alabama's readers and their underappreciated literary treasure, the magnificent Mary Ward Brown.
