AHF Establishes Endowment Fund
At its October 28, 2011, board of directors meeting in Birmingham, the Alabama Humanities Foundation announced the establishment of the Alabama Humanities Endowment Fund within the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. The sole purpose of this endowment is to generate earnings to support AHF’s humanities programs throughout Alabama.
“We are delighted to partner with the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham in this important step toward creating a stable source of income for AHF” said Jim Noles, Chairman of the AHF’s Board of Directors. “Their long history of investing and managing funds helps ensure that, through this new endowment, AHF will continue its mission of providing quality programs in the humanities that benefit Alabamians for many years to come”.
“The Community Foundation is proud to partner with AHF to establish the AHF Humanities Endowment Fund," said Erin Stephenson, Vice President of Development for the CFGB. “This decision will allow AHF to continue to focus on its important mission of providing quality humanities programs for our citizens while the Community Foundation tends to the long-term growth of this Endowment Fund.”
The AHF seeded the endowment with $50,000 raised from last year’s “TKAM 2010: To Kill a Mockingbird – Awakening America’s Conscience” program. AHF hopes, however, that further gifts will help the endowment grow and in turn provide much needed funding for future years.
