Artist’s statement: “I took this time to re-read Harper Lee’s book To Kill a Mockingbird. It was really good to think about the book again. The challenge for me was to come up with a visual image that represents the book. The story of Tom’s unfair trial and mockingbird as an innocent bystander was what I decided to use. The lines from page 103 were meaningful for me: ‘Mockingbirds…make music for us to enjoy.’”
