Songs for Harper Lee #27
Brian Edmonds • Acrylic on panel
Artist’s statement: “In the beginning I wanted to use
the novel as a starting point for a series of paintings.
The work soon came to be less about the novel and
more about the idea of Harper Lee. Harper Lee is
a part of this landscape. Her words and characters
are familiar to all Southerners. They are full of the
innocent that soon realize something is amiss. These
paintings are dedicated to the forgotten, stillness that
once populated our land.”
