Mr. Noles, A very inspiring speech, indeed. Obviously you spent considerable time and effort in its preparation. I say this because you mention my father, Enoch "Hugie" Shoultz, a Marine Platoon Sergeant who was killed on Iwo Jima, doing exactly what you said, leading a patrol against enemy positions. There are probably less than five people alive today who actually remember my father. I'm not one of them because I was only one month old when he was killed. The letters my mother sent to him telling of my birth came back unopened. I say this because what you and AHF and other veterans organizations do each year on veterans day is important in keeping alive the idea that liberty is worth fighting for. If we ever stop believing that this country will not long survive.

Jim: Honestly one of the finest presentations I have seen that truly puts in words what all of us should remember and appreciate on a daily basis. Actually brought a tear to my eye as I reread it, as my 24 year old is in the infantry in Afghanistan as we speak. Thank you for the thoughts and for sharing it with me.
The people of Pine Hill greately appreciated Jim Noles outstanding speech on Veteran's Day 2011. It was an inspirational speech that made us feel that we were an integral part of Veteran's Day. And indeed we are because most families of Pine have had some member of their family to serve in one of the military branches and many lost members during military conflict. And Jim Noles you are likewise an integral part of Pine Hill Veteran's Day because your powerful writings provided much inspiration for us to initiate our first Veteran's Day ceremony. So, Jim, please return to Pine Hill when ever you can. You are always welcome. God bless you and your family.

Two of my uncles, ages 18 and 20, were crewmen on missions in the same theatre of operations as this story. Both their planes were shot down and they were captured and imprisoned by the German troops. When they returned home unharmed after the war, my uncles would not discuss their interrnment; however, the younger uncle told his wife just before he died last year that his only regret was he was not able to contact the villagers who arranged his escape from prison. They risked their lives to save his and he was unable to thank them.

I've been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be a lot more useful than ever before.
