Marthanne Brown of Jasper is the retired associate dean of the Walker College Campus of Bevill State Community College in Jasper and also serves as coordinator of Community Arts Programming. She received a governor's appointment in September 2004. Brown earned a B.A. from Samford University, an M.A. in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and has also taken part in the Mississippi Community College Fellowship program. Along with serving on the advisory boards of Auburn University's Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Center for the Book, the Walker County Literacy Council and the Arts Alliance of Walker County, Brown is also a member of a service organization, the Crescent Study Club and the board of trustees for the First United Methodist Church of Jasper. She is a past member of the Jasper Industrial Development Board and the Rotary Club.
